Natalya Nikolaevna Morozova

In the work «Nostalgia», created as an illustration for Kamyshnaya's poem «Deceptive Love», He and She appear before us. Her image is presented by the artist facing the viewer; she is open, sincere, slightly subdued, and troubled. Next to her, the artist has placed a candle that radiates warmth and light. The main heroine is close and understandable to us. His image, however, is turned away from us; we see his back, and his thoughts are far from Her, as, apparently, are his feelings.

«Deceptive Love»

The candle burns, the yellow wax melts down,
In whimsical vignettes, it trickles without sound,
A chord of an old romance trembles through the air,
As if recalling what was long forgotten there.
Deceptive love, deceptive love,
And caresses of hands, caresses devoid of inspiration,
Joyless encounters once again,
And the parting of two paths, the divergence of two destinies.
But what then draws me still to you?
Is it but memories of the past?..
The mystery of premonition, the flight,
The thrill of joy, and tender confessions.
But even the smallest flame
Grants moments of illumination.
Thank you for deceptive love—
The agonizing charm of what remains unfulfilled.
